NHRF Developing Alzheimer's Program
For the past 8 years, NHRF and Master Hong Liu have offered the Senior Wellness Program at both the Honolulu and Kaneohe locations. Many senior citizens have benefited from the program, which aims to strengthen a senior's overall wellness, stabilize emotions, and to improve memory and cognitive functions. Interest and recognition for this program is growing in the United States amongst complementary medicine organizations for the direct benefits to those diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
Master Hong recently held a workshop in Phoenix, Arizona. Over 100 people attended the "Bright Brains, Better Health" workshop which focused on simple techniques and foods that one could incorporate into daily life to prevent and improve the effects of Alzheimer’s. NHRF is currently working with a company that is interested in publishing a book based on an overview of the 12-sitting exercises, which serves as the core of the Senior Wellness program. In addition to the book, the publisher is interested in the production of a DVD series which would assist patients and families to minimize the effects of Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer's program seeks to educate people on Alzheimer's prevention, and the natural treatment of Alzheimer's through healing foods, lifestyle changes and Qi Gong Exercises. NHRF is excited about the expansion of this program that has been effective for many senior citizens in Hawaii.

NHRF's Annual Feng Shui Fundraiser
NHRF held the annual Feng Shui fundraiser at the Honolulu Country Club on January 13, 2013. The workshop is given by Master Hong as one way to express thanks, gratitude and appreciation to NHRF's generous supporters. The Feng Shui workshop consists of two main components: annual energy mapping and an action plan. The annual energy mapping and predictions aim to help everyone to create a better 2013. Master Hong gave suggestions on what areas to pay attention to and provided an outlook of the opportunities and risks that can be expected in the upcoming year. Feng Shui is a tool that can be used to formulate recommendations of actions to take in order to create a better and more successful year according to different Feng Shui principles.
Through the generous continued contributions, NHRF has been able to sustain its programs, allowing the foundation to continue to make positive contributions to society. It is the hope of NHRF and Master Hong that the supporters are able to utilize and apply these principles and action plans to help navigate the year ahead and contribute to positive changes within their own lives and community.

Sacred Heart Academy's Health and Wellness Fair
Master Hong Liu and the Natural Healing Research Foundation shared valuable information at the Sacred Hearts Academy Health and Wellness Fair on September 8, 2012.
Interested parents and students of all ages came to learn medical Qi Gong exercises. These exercises were selected to benefit children and adults who might be having difficulty learning, concerns with memory problems, or have been identified as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Under the watchful eye of Master Hong and the Qi Center Instructors, parents and students practiced three medical Qi Gong exercises which included “Goal Post”, “Happy Buddha” and “Rooster’s Comb”. These fun and interactive exercises help to boost whole body circulation and are specifically designed to increase blood flow to the brain thus improving brain function. Abdominal breathing was taught and practiced as a means to control and relieve stress.
Master Hong spoke about the usefulness of the exercises to boost memory and concentration that are important for effective learning. Students were encouraged to use these as tools in their active learning environment as a means of calming and preparing themselves for learning. Students were encouraged to share the exercises with their grandparents who could also benefit from them as they help to relieve the symptoms of diseases such as dementia and alzheimers. These exercises are also being used with the Qi Center’s ongoing Senior Wellness Program.
A very special thank you to Master Hong, and the Qi Center volunteers- Wade Shigemasa, Pua Kekina, Joy Tanabe, Gwyne Ching, Tom Kupiec and Kathleen Ong.

Special Qi Center Teacher Training August 24, 2012The Qi Center’s teachers gathered with Grandmaster Hong on Saturday, July 28, 2012, to enhance and hone their teaching skills at a Special Training Session. These dedicated teachers who generously volunteer their time and efforts have been the driving force behind the success of the Natural Healing Research Foundation (NHRF) Qi Center’s programs. Each teacher came with a varied teaching experience and all were eager to learn concepts to help deepen and further their understanding of Qi Gong exercises and practice.
Attempting to establish its foothold at its new home in Kaneohe, the Qi Center is looking to introduce Qi Gong and its natural healing modalities and exercises to this windward Oahu location. In its efforts to build enrollment, the volunteer teachers participated in this special session to improve the quality of their instruction by learning advanced techniques and theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which are the essence of Qi Gong and natural healing. They were given an in-depth lesson on muscle regions and acupoints. Through their own practice on the Body Pyramid lead by Master Hong, the teachers were able to connect the specific exercises with the respective muscle region and its acupoints that are activated with each position. . This training session’s objective was to give teachers the necessary tools to better connect with the individual needs of each student to deepen and strengthen their practice. It allowed the teachers to more easily identify and promote the benefits of the exercises and of classes offered at the Center – all necessary to reach out and attract students. The session furthered the teachers’ knowledge and will empower them to apply these tools to encourage new and current students to create a healthy lifestyle through more healing modalities. In addition to teaching the exercises, the teachers will be able to connect and share the Aloha spirit as they all share the common goal of enhancing the quality of life through Qi Gong. |
2012 Summer Respiratory Event August 24, 2012
The Natural Healing Research Foundation (NHRF) held its 9th annual Summer Asthma and Respiratory event at Aiea Elementary School. Although NHRF was unable to advertise the event as in the past due to a cut in funding, over 235 people came out to hear Master Hong’s lecture on combating respiratory illness and to apply the free herbal patches. Many of them have attended past events. Those that continue to attend gain an increased confidence in Master Hong’s comprehensive natural program from their past experiences and results.
One attendee noted that he had kidney disease and suffered from low immunity and frequent bouts of the flu. After attending the Winter Immunity event he mentioned he was free of the flu and fever all year. His kidney function was also normal; however his doctor suggested he take the flu shot to which he complied. Following the flu shot he experienced an elevated level of protein in his urine. He attended the last summer respiratory event because he preferred a more natural alternative, without the risk of side effects. Many people are now seeking natural healing modalities in the treatment and prevention of illnesses.
With the patches applied prior to the lecture, its effects were magnified as the attendees were taught the simple but effective Medical Qi Gong exercises that help to boost respiratory function. The points where the patches were strategically placed due to corresponding accupoints are also activated by the exercises which allowed everyone to understand and better relate to Master’s explanation of the concept behind his Natural Program. Master also shared important information on aligning your body’s energy to that of the universe to promote good health and longevity. Special instructions were given on helping a heart attack or stroke victim during an emergency that captivated the audience.
The success of the program is evident by the repeat attendees, some of which have attended the event for 6 consecutive years. Many people continue to come because they experience the increased effectiveness when integrating the entire program which includes the herbal patches, nutritional information, healing foods and Medical Qi Gong exercises-into their daily lives.
